About

Overview:

White House Health Systems (WHHS) is seeking dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our Regional Crisis Stabilization Unit (RCSU) located in Hampton, VA. The RCSU operates 24/7 to provide critical behavioral health care and stabilization for a client base of 8 – 10 individuals (maximum) experiencing acute psychiatric crises. LPN's will not have greater than 10 patients per shift. Very light med pass. Mostly observation and less stressful environment than skilled, bedside, or Home-health nursing. LPN's play a vital role in this multidisciplinary environment, delivering basic nursing care under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs) and physicians. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable individuals by ensuring their safety, dignity, and progress toward mental health stabilization in a client-centered setting. If you're a motivated LPN with a passion for mental health care and crisis intervention, we invite you to become part of our dedicated team at WHHS. Help us transform livesβ€”one shift at a time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Monitoring: Conduct routine checks on 8-10 patients to assess their physical and emotional well-being. Report significant changes in status to supervising RNs or physicians promptly and accurately.
  • Medication Administration: Dispense prescribed medications according to orders. Monitor for side effects or adverse reactions, ensuring timely communication with clinical staff regarding concerns.
  • Daily Living Support: Assist 8-10 patients with hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and other activities of daily living. Encourage self-care to promote autonomy where possible.
  • Crisis Management: Assist in managing behavioral emergencies. Employ de-escalation techniques and provide a calm, supportive presence during high-stress situations.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough, timely, and accurate records of patient behaviors, interventions, medications administered, and progress toward treatment goals.
  • Treatment Implementation: Execute components of individualized treatment plans as directed by RNs or physicians. This includes supporting clinical goals and therapeutic interventions.
  • Therapeutic Activity Support: Facilitate or co-facilitate structured group activities that contribute to patient stabilization, engagement, and emotional regulation.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety and infection control protocols. Maintain a secure environment that protects the well-being of all patients and staff.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Participate in shift handovers, care team meetings, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Communicate patient needs and clinical concerns clearly and respectfully.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Completion of a state-approved practical nursing program.
  • Licensure: Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Experience: Previous experience in mental health, behavioral health, or crisis stabilization settings preferred but not required.
