Job Title: Engineering Manager

Location: Matthews, North Carolina

Position Overview:

The company is seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering leader to play a pivotal role in supporting the Companies initiatives for growth and advancing the future of flight. The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the activities of the Engineering department, including Manufacturing Engineering and Programming Services. They will provide leadership for not only the Engineering department but throughout the company via vision, strategy, culture, and strong execution. They are a key strategic decision maker with strong execution skills that will help take Northeast Tool to the next level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


• Work as part of the Leadership team for overall site leadership.


• Act as primary contact for Engineering with customers, vendors, and staff to answer inquiries, concerns, or complaints about outgoing product.


• Effectively lead, manage, and develop a team of CNC Programming and Manufacturing Engineering staff members to provide programming and professional engineering services.


• Partner with Quality, Operations, and Manufacturing Engineering to identify, prioritize, and schedule projects appropriately for completion.


• Manage weekly and daily workload for the CNC Programmers and Manufacturing Engineers through the online project management software (LiquidPlanner) to track and monitor performance and deliverables to expected targets and milestones.


• Ensure Production Readiness Reviews (PRR) are conducted appropriately by manufacturing engineering team members and develop manufacturing program schedules for each new part number/job.


• Own company-wide engineering metrics, reporting and action plan to ensure timely, effective countermeasure(s) and resolution.


• Establish companywide standard reporting of KPI's (i.e. Gemba or Daily Management utilizing lean methodology), and responsible to establish and maintain Engineering KPI's throughout the company.


• Evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of material types, part features, machining processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, and quality standards.


• Define the Method of Manufacturing for all items (new, current, and revised) and construct engineering schedule to meet on-time delivery and predicted KPIs.


• Develop and implement best in class manufacturing processes for new and legacy products to drive sustained improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, & Cost.


• Develop new and edit existing Engineering policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance to ISO9001, AS9100, & ITAR regulations.


• Support non-conformance reporting (NCR) through the engineering department conducting root cause analysis meetings.


• Responsible for the management of engineering change notices through the Engineering department and process specifications pertaining to manufacturing processes and material specifications.


• Propose, evaluate, and manage cost reduction activities and other value propositions in current production or new production programs.


• Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• Highly proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite applications, Mastercam, Vericut, and Solidworks.


• Highly technical, with a strong foundation for logic that allows for a steep learning curve and the ability to adapt to new technologies.


• Critical thinker, problem solver utilizing first principles.


• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.


• Expert knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Datum Structure Review.


• Exceptional analytical and decision-making abilities, with a focus on data-driven problem-solving.


• Expert technical writing and critical thinking skills.


• Expert understanding and experience in RCA and CAR methodology and tools; i.e. fishbone, 5-why, pareto, scatter diagram, etc.


• Advanced communication and presentation skills with internal and external stakeholders.


• Experience in identifying risks to plans; knowledge and experience to quickly identify mitigation opportunities. Strong execution skills.

Required Qualifications:


• Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Engineering, plus a minimum of 7 years related experience.


• 2 + years' experience in an ISO9001 and/or AS9100 environment, or the ability to obtain AS9100 training certifications within 6 months of hire.


• 2 + years' leadership/management experience.


• In-depth knowledge of CNC machine tooling and work holding with a strong preference for experience with 5-Axis Machine Tools, specifically DMG Mori.


• Extensive knowledge in machined part design, including dimensioning, tolerances, and design for manufacturability.


• Demonstrable experience with Mastercam and Solidworks, certifications strongly preferred (Mastercam: 3D and Multiaxis; Solidworks: CSWA or CSWP).


• Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.


• Advanced knowledge of GD&T & datum structure review - GD&T ASME Y advanced level certification, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.


• Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB), or higher, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:


• Master's degree in engineering or business.


• Previous experience in an executive level leadership role (Director or above).


• Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt.


• Certified Solidworks Professional (CSWP).


• Mastercam certifications: Mill 2D, Mill 3D, Lathe, 4-Axis, Multi-Axis, Advanced Lathe.


• Proficiency with Siemens and/or Fanuc controllers and DMG Mori machine tool experience.

Pay Rate: $130,000 - $175,000, depending on level of experience and required/preferred qualifications.
