We design and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems.
Are you ready to lead procurement transformation at Siemens Mobility as we revolutionize North America's transportation infrastructure? Our Rolling Stock (RS) team seeks a hard-working visionary leader for our 50-strong Strategic Procurement team to work with suppliers, multiple manufacturing sites, project teams, and partners to support the passenger transit and high-speed rail markets (ability to travel approximately 30%).
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  1. Transformational Leadership in the growing rail market in North America
  • Inspire and transform a team of more than 50 procurement professionals organized in 5 teams to the next level. Establish resilient succession planning and talent management pipelines
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with engineering, quality, operations, and finance and increase partner engagement. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and entrepreneurship.
  • Lead the digital transformation of our procurement function by implementing sophisticated analytics, AI-powered solutions, and digital procurement platforms to drive efficiency and competitive advantage

2. Strategic Procurement (Source-to-contract) to build competitive advantage
  • Review and challenge commodity strategies and bids with team leads to achieve cost savings targets
  • Lead contract negotiations with major manufacturers and suppliers
  • Manage large-scale procurement budgets and innovation planning
  • Establish and maintain strategic supplier relationships with the team for increased supplier performance improvement and supplier development
  • Develop and implement robust supply chain resilience strategies, including multi-sourcing approaches and risk mitigation plans

3. Process Excellence : Procurement Innovation and AI integration
  • Optimize procurement processes and workflows
  • Drive implementation of advanced data analytics for transparency and performance
  • Implement digital and AI enabled procurement solutions and automation
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Apply advanced analytics to drive strategic procurement decisions, optimize supplier performance, and identify cost-saving opportunities across the value chain

4. Shape Resilience of our Rolling Stock supply chain
  • Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks and develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions
  • Lead conflict resolution with suppliers, manufacturing plants and partners
  • Mediate between technical requirements and supplier capabilities
  • Drive sustainable procurement initiatives that align with Siemens' environmental goals, including developing green supplier programs, implementing circular economy practices, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations
To excel in this role, you should have:
  • 10+ years of procurement experience in a project-driven business with 7+ years in a leadership position including leading leaders
  • Proven track record in managing complex manufacturing projects, ideally in a technology business with small lot-sizes.
  • Experience in international procurement and contract negotiations
  • Deep understanding of the rail industry supply chain, including key manufacturers, component suppliers, and industry-specific procurement challenges in the North American and Global supply markets. Process knowledge from automotive industry .
  • Proven conflict resolution skills - internally as well as with suppliers. Diplomatic and culturally sensitive awareness required.
  • Proven track record in preparing competitive bids under high pressure. Your resiliency and outcome-focused approach is required.
  • Strategic problem solver with excellent decision-making and implementation skills
  • Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field or long-lasting industry experience as procurement professional required. Professional certifications in procurement (e.g., CPSM, CPM) preferred.

The base salary range for this position in Sacramento, CA, is $224,300 - $303,400 and the annual incentive target is 25% of the base salary. The actual compensation offered may be lower or higher depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
