What You Will Do
We are searching for a Science Program Analyst. The Science Program Analyst will gather, organize, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data in support of NIH efforts to prioritize human-based research and reduce/replace the use of animals in biomedical research, drug development, and regulatory testing. As appropriate, Large Language Models or other artificial intelligence tools will be used to streamline portfolio analysis and report writing activities. The Analyst will track legislative, policy, and research developments and attend and summarize meetings related to human relevant, nonanimal methods. The Analyst will prepare slide presentations and/or talking points on assigned topics, as well as draft briefs and reports for senior leaders at DPCPSI/NIH. This is a full-time hybrid opportunity supporting the office in Bethesda, MD.

• Gather, organize, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data in support of NIH efforts to prioritize human-based research and reduce/replace the use of animals in biomedical research, drug development, and regulatory testing.
• Use Large Language Models, as appropriate, for data analysis and preparation of briefing documents and reports.
• Prepare correspondence, reports and other written material.
• Track legislative and policy developments and science advances related to human-relevant non-animal models for use in reports and presentations.
• Prepare slide presentations and talking points on assigned topics for use by NIH senior leadership.

What You Will Need

• Minimum education required: Bachelor's degree
• A minimum of TWO (2) years of experience in research, biomedical research, or environmental research.
• Report Writing, Ability to prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive reports for diverse audiences.
• Novel Alternative Methodologies (NAMs), Knowledge of emerging approaches in toxicology and biomedical research.
• Proficiency in data processing, statistical analysis, and visualization techniques.
• Large Language Models (LLMs); Understanding of AI-driven language models and their applications in scientific research.
• Experience with computational tools and models for chemical safety and risk assessment.
• Capability to evaluate and manage scientific portfolios, including trend analysis and strategic planning.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

What Would Be Nice To Have

• Prior experience with NIH or HHS agencies preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science or similar studies.

The annual salary range for this position is $74,000.00-$124, Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
