- Heavy Highway at Ghilotti Bros., Inc.

Ghilotti Bros., Inc. (GBI) is breaking ground on several large Caltrans heavy highway landmark projects in

the Bay Area and we our expanding our team Our Project Engineers play a vital role in leading high-profile, complex projects that shape the communities where we live and work, from major

infrastructure improvements to key private development milestones.

IN this role, you will play a key role in driving $30M+ of active heavy civil work across the region, putting

you at the forefront of some of the most exciting and impactful infrastructure projects in Northern

California. The ideal candidate brings proven heavy civil design build and Caltrans experience, with

expertise in earthwork, paving, underground utilities, and concrete, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

The Project Engineer is a key part of the Project Management team, assisting the PM and Field

Supervisors with planning and executing daily construction activities to deliver projects safely,

efficiently, and under budget. This role is involved from early conceptual development through final

construction and plays an important role in coordinating planning, budgeting, scheduling, and delivering

multiple projects simultaneously.

This role can be based in any GBI office location, including our San Rafael main office or regional offices

in Petaluma (North Bay), Pleasant Hill (East Bay), or Burlingame (Peninsula).

including Field Engineers, and Project Administrators, other PMs and VPs. This role reports directly to a

Project Manager for Heavy Highway.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:


• Serve as a primary point of contact between subcontractors, field teams, and the office


• Create and review baseline schedules with the project team to ensure project goals are

achievable


• Maintain accurate and timely 3-week look-ahead schedules with resource loading


• Support PMT and Finance with cost tracking, project billing, subcontractor payments, and

reconciliation


• Review daily production analysis for accurate cost reporting; provide detailed explanations for

variances


• Manage purchase orders (POs) and subcontractor change orders (SCOs)


• Identify project risks or impacts and propose solutions


• Address field issues and recommend alternatives to recurring challenges


• Prepare documentation and correspondence related to contracts, project issues, and status

updates


• Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, subcontractors, and project partners


• Interpret complex laws, regulations, and policies


• Review contract conditions and assist in ensuring compliance with all terms

Skills & Qualifications


• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred (or

equivalent experience)


• Strong practical construction knowledge and ability to read blueprints and plans


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PlanGrid, HCSS, and P6


• QSP certification a plus


• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities; meticulous attention to cost and budget

detail


• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision


• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment


• Ability to work independently and contribute within cross-functional teams


• Solid written and verbal communication skills


• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines


• Bilingual skills a plus


• Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety requirements

Compensation & Benefits
