Drift Palm Springs is seeking a skilled and reliable Lead Engineer to oversee the daily maintenance operations of the property. This role is responsible for managing preventive maintenance programs, coordinating vendors, maintaining permits and licenses, and handling inventory and ordering — while also performing hands-on maintenance tasks as part of the hotel engineering team.

We're looking for someone who is organized, proactive, and committed to keeping the property operating safely, efficiently, and in excellent condition for our guests.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and perform general hotel engineering duties including repairs, troubleshooting, and daily maintenance
• Oversee and manage preventive maintenance schedules for all building systems and equipment
• Maintain required licenses, permits, and compliance documentation
• Manage maintenance inventory, supplies, tools, and parts; execute timely ordering and restocking
• Coordinate and supervise third-party vendors and contractors
• Respond to work orders and guest/operational requests promptly and professionally
• Ensure safety standards, fire life safety protocols, and building systems are maintained
• Maintain accurate logs, checklists, and documentation for maintenance activities
• Assist with capital projects, renovations, and larger repair needs as required
• Work closely with management to identify repair needs, system upgrades, and budget priorities

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering or maintenance experience in hotels, resorts, or commercial buildings
• Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical systems, and general repairs
• Experience managing preventive maintenance programs
• Ability to coordinate vendors and contractors effectively
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage inventory and supplies
• Familiarity with permits, compliance requirements, and building safety standards
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Must be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs and perform hands-on repair tasks
• Flexible availability, including weekends/holidays as needed
