Job Overview:
APS is seeking a Staff Civil/Structural Engineer to join our project teams. This role is responsible for developing world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments, with a focus on marine structures, including piers, wharfs, bulkheads, fender systems, and related infrastructure. The engineer will balance design integrity with project constraints, delivering civil and structural plans that meet technical requirements, budgets, and client needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with senior engineers and lead civil/structural design of projects from conceptual phase through completion.
- Design and analyze civil/structural components across a variety of projects.
- Apply advanced knowledge of civil/structural engineering concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures.
- Conduct research and compile project-related data, studies, and reports.
- Prepare and review drawings, specifications, and other engineering documents.
- Lead client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and support contract administration.
- Perform and oversee field inspections, measurements, and calculations.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers.
- Perform other duties as assigned, complying with all company policies and standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or related engineering field from an ABET-accredited program, or
- Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or related engineering technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in civil/structural engineering, preferably in a consulting environment.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred, or ability to obtain within one year. EIT certification required.
- Advanced knowledge of civil/structural engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, RISA-3D, or other relevant programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and lead tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, collaboration, team-building, organization, and mentoring abilities.
