Sunny View Nursing Home, a respected 57-bed facility in Warwick, Rhode Island, is seeking a meticulous Housekeeper to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation for our cherished residents and guests. As a Housekeeper, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the comfort and hygiene of our facility. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing comprehensive cleaning duties, such as cleaning and disinfecting floors, making beds, dusting surfaces, and ensuring all areas meet our stringent cleanliness standards.

  • Managing laundry tasks, including washing, drying, ironing, and sorting linens.

  • Restocking and organizing essential supplies in resident rooms and common areas.

  • Promptly responding to housekeeping requests and addressing spills or other immediate needs.

  • Collecting and removing trash and debris efficiently.

  • Conducting detailed deep cleans as required to maintain optimal hygiene.

  • Reporting any property damage or maintenance issues to your supervisor.

  • Handling and logging lost and found items with care and integrity.

You'll work collaboratively within our dedicated housekeeping team and with other departments, contributing to an environment where every resident feels safe, comfortable, and respected.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is desired.

  • Experience: Prior housekeeping experience, particularly in a healthcare setting, is preferred.

Special Requirements

  • Communication: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language effectively.

  • Decision-Making: Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact tactfully and respectfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.

  • Work Ethic:

  • Maintain diligent care and use of supplies and equipment.

  • Ensure the pristine appearance of work areas.

  • Perform regular inspections for sanitation, order, safety, and proper execution of assigned duties.

  • Willingness to collaborate harmoniously with colleagues and engage with residents at their individual maturity levels.

  • Ability to accurately follow written and oral instructions regarding the mixing of cleaning compounds, liquids, and disinfecting solutions.

  • Safety: Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.

  • Availability: Willingness to work beyond normal working hours, including weekends and holidays when necessary, and to cover other positions as needed. Subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster).

  • Continuing Education: Willingness to attend and participate in continuing educational programs.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This role requires physical stamina and the ability to move intermittently throughout all areas of the facility during working hours. Housekeepers are subject to frequent interruptions and may need to reschedule cleaning activities. The position involves continuous interaction with residents, staff, visitors, and government personnel under various conditions and circumstances.
