This is a 6+ month contract with our client who is a worldwide alternative investment firm

Project Manager – IT PMO

The Project Manager will work within the IT PMO and lead cross-functional initiatives across Capital Markets, Data Science, Enterprise Architecture, Corporate Platforms, CPPSB, Global Infrastructure, Global Security & Operations, and additional firm-wide business units. This role is responsible for driving complex technology projects from planning through execution while partnering closely with IT leaders, business stakeholders, and enterprise teams.

Project Management

  • Lead and manage multiple technology projects simultaneously across diverse business functions.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, timelines, and milestones; track and report on progress.
  • Oversee project scope, teams, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Identify, document, and escalate risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Ensure development and execution of communication, testing, and training plans.
  • Manage cross-team initiatives such as IT security enhancements, disaster recovery, server upgrades, and infrastructure projects.
  • Adhere to and contribute to PMO processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership to define, prioritize, and execute projects.

Governance & Leadership

  • Drive results with urgency and influence stakeholders across the organization.
  • Demonstrate ownership by identifying issues, building consensus, and presenting solutions.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to high team morale and performance.

Partnership

  • Facilitate alignment and decision-making through IT Steering Committee updates.
  • Partner with Enterprise teams and business leads to ensure consistent PMO engagement.
  • Promote PMO value proposition, project lifecycle processes, and governance firm-wide.

Reporting

  • Prepare and present dashboards, progress updates, and executive reports.
  • Track and document milestones, risks, costs, and project health indicators.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Manage project budgets, reconcile actuals vs. forecast, and provide analysis to PMO leadership.
  • Influence, coordinate, and manage matrixed project resources and vendors.

Qualifications

  • PMP certification and/or MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of project management experience with strong reporting skills.
  • 6+ years of experience leading technology implementations.
  • Agile/Scrum background preferred.
  • Financial services experience highly desirable.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with strong organization.
  • Experience managing technical teams and external vendors.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing abilities.
  • Proven team player who shares information and drives collective success.
