About

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer with experience in mechanical FEA simulations and new product development. Β In this role, you will support the design, development, and optimization of virtual mechanical design testing, smoke sensor enclosures and airflow systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance smoke sensor solutions that meet the stringent requirements of our customers.

If you are a seasoned Mechanical Engineer with a passion for new product development and mechanical simulations, we want to hear from you Join us in our mission to develop innovative smoke sensor solutions that enhance fire safety and save lives. Apply now to become a part of our dedicated team at Resideo.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Perform Mechanical FEA Simulations (i.e., Drop Testing, Battery Contact Bend Constraints, Plastic Snap Fits, and other mechanical testing).Β
  • Lead the design and development of various Resideo products including smoke sensor enclosures and airflow systems, ensuring optimal performance in detecting smoke particles and minimizing false alarms.
  • Conduct smoke and airflow simulations using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to analyze and optimize sensor enclosure designs for efficient smoke detection and airflow patterns.
  • Collaborate with electronics engineers to integrate sensor components into the mechanical design, optimizing placement and alignment for maximum sensitivity and reliability.
  • Design and prototype sensor enclosures using CAD software, considering factors such as material selection, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct testing and validation of sensor enclosures and airflow systems, analyzing performance metrics and addressing any issues or deficiencies through iterative refinement and optimization.
  • Drive innovation in smoke sensor technology through research, experimentation, and evaluation of emerging technologies and industry trends.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on product development and/or smoke sensor design
  • Experience with mechanical simulation software such as ANSYS
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, or Creo for 3D modeling and design
  • Proficiency in 2D drawings, critical-to-function dimensions, and tolerance stacks
