About
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work on the Shinko machine.
- Follow all quality standards and operating requirements; perform quality checks to ensure finished units meet specifications before moving to WIP or Customer.
- Ensure correct order quantities and verify unit counts and measurements.
- Inspect output for proper scoring, cutting, die alignment, and print registration; restack units if discrepancies are found.
- Eliminate off-quality sheets and notify maintenance or supervision to correct machine issues.
- Ensure proper load tags and protective devices are in place according to customer specifications.
- Audit quality and unit accuracy on WIP lines, making adjustments as needed.
- Work with a sense of urgency to prevent line backups or machine shutdowns.
- Maintain sufficient levels of top dunnage, bottom inserts, and strapping to avoid jams and maintain production flow.
- Perform daily cleaning and preventive maintenance of the Shinko machine, including strapping heads, sensors, and cutting components.
- Locate and load proper dunnage, tapes, load tags, and banding reels to protect customer products.
- Utilize carts, conveyors, labelers, scanners, and plant software systems (Kiwi or similar) to document production and follow line instructions.
- Capable of safely clearing jams, rethreading machine components, and manually operating equipment when required.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and submit maintenance work orders for complex repairs.
- Monitor output quality and resolve issues, escalating to supervision if unable to resolve independently.
- Operate associated equipment such as Slitter and other converting line machines as needed.
- Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Complete monthly online OSHA training and adhere to all safety regulations.
- Perform all additional duties as assigned by management and assist across the plant floor when necessary.
Additional Requirements:
Written/Verbal Communication Skills:
- Must follow detailed instructions related to training, quality, and safety.
Physical Requirements:
- Required to stand for long periods and occasionally squat while lifting sheets (up to 30 lbs) for up to 12 hours.
- Required to bend, lift, and move sheets from platforms or bridges safely.
- Must have good vision to operate PITs, read labels, and monitor equipment safely.
- Requires continuous mental and visual attention to maintain production flow and inventory accuracy.

Required Experience:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Strong desire to learn and excel in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience in the corrugated or converting industry preferred.
- Punctuality and commitment to predictable attendance.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Dedication to wearing required safety gear.
- Availability for overtime as needed.
Skills:
- Reading and Communication: Able to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Mathematical: Able to read a tape measure with accuracy, calculate measurements, percentages, and volumes, and apply basic math concepts.
- Technical: Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities; familiarity with quality standards and regulatory requirements including OSHA, DEQ, EEO, and company policies.
