About
Maintenance Director
The Orchards is currently seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our team.
Maintenace Assistant Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assure that all defective machines, equipment, and appliances are repaired or replaced
- See that grounds and facility are kept safe, neat, and orderly
- Assist with conducting monthly fire drills
- Organize, maintain, and store all department-specific supplies and equipment
- Inventory, identify and help store resident's personal possessions on an ongoing basis
- Complete forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc. related to the Maintenance Department
- Make sure all maintenance work meets quality standards
- Follow planned program of preventive maintenance as guided by the Maintenance Director
Maintenance Assistant Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or completed a GED program as well as computer knowledge/skills
- At least three years of maintenance related experience and basic knowledge in carpentry, painting, plumbing, and lawn care
- Must be available on call for urgent facility needs
Driver Duties and Responsibilities:
- The safe and efficient operation of assigned motor vehicle
- Extensive contact with patients/ residents of a nursing home facility
- Assisting ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals enter and leave the vehicle
- Ensuring that passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle
- Securing residents' mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs
- Keeping a record of each bus trip and the residents who attended
- Documenting the mileage and time for each bus trip
- Performing preventive maintenance functions such as checking lights, maintaining fluid levels, checking tire pressure, etc. and notifying supervisory personnel of need for further service or repair
Driver Qualifications and Skills:
- Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to load, secure, and unload passengers from a motor vehicle
- Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle
- Ability to find geographic locations
- Ability to follow oral/ written instructions and keep a record of activities
- Ability to lift, maneuver, and support materials of up to 80 pounds
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading, and unloading a motor vehicle
- Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities stated above
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience working in long term care a plus
