Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. The Opportunity
Ally Invest is looking for a Senior Cloud Data engineer who is passionate about solving data problems in the financial sector. Our Cloud Data Engineers are innovative technologists with a breadth of technical skills and an insatiable curiosity. As a Senior Cloud Data Engineer, you will have opportunities to develop and optimize batch and real-time data processes throughout our business, as well as to foster new skills, explore emerging technologies, and to share knowledge with your peers and colleagues.
The ideal candidate will have experience participating in architecture discussions and significant hands-on experience developing analytics and ETL processes. You will partner with other teams at Ally to create resilient and robust solutions which will benefit our customers and stakeholders.

The Work Itself
- Design, develop, test, and deploy business intelligence solutions
- Interact with various business units to gather requirements
- Review and optimize current ETL processes
- Ensure data quality, completeness, and accuracy
- Collaborate with team members in code reviews, discovering better practices and patterns
- Provide significant contributions to the growth of our data infrastructure
- Participate in routine Agile and Scrum practices
Skills
The Skills You Bring
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in cloud engineering, data engineering, data warehousing, or a related field
- Extensive working knowledge of Python, Java, and SQL
- Experience building data platforms using AWS
- Experience working with Apache Airflow
- Desire and drive to continue learning
- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent experience in related field
Additional Desired Knowledge & Skills:
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies
- Experience working with investment brokerage
- Experience working in a controlled and regulated environment
- Experience developing applications with Apache Kafka
- Experience developing applications with Spark and/or PySpark
- Familiarity with Terraform / Gitlab Pipelines
- Experience with Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL
- Familiarity with common DevOps pipeline concepts and components
- Lambda Experience
