Host/Hostess

Position Overview

The host at Stoked Pizza is to be first and foremost a welcoming first impression for our guests. In addition, the host will need to be able to multitask between seating the dining room, managing reservations, and getting takeout orders ready to go and handed out to the guests. As a member of a team you will be expected to help out in other areas of the restaurant if your current responsibilities are fulfilled.

Essential Functions, Skills and Knowledge

• Nurture an atmosphere conducive to creating repeat customers and regular clientele
• Promote the Stoked Pizza brand
• Welcome guests as they enter and thank them when they leave
• Maintain a clean and presentable appearance
• Manage the host cash drawer
• Take phone calls and be able to answer any questions that guests may have
• Maintain a clean and organized host station
• Assist in changing out updated menus
• Manage reservations as they come in and understand how to balance walk-ins around reservations
• Monitor and stay on top of dining volume & pacing
• Enter takeout orders and accurately handout food when guest arrives
• Properly stock takeout supplies
• Clean and organize the host station at the end of service following the checklist
• Help clean and reset tables
• Run food and drinks for dining guests

Work Environment

This position operates in a bar and restaurant environment where alcohol is served. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as cleaning chemicals, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, odors, and/or loud noises.

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds with help and/or assistance.

Expected Hours of Work

This is a hospitality position, and as such will require both weekday and weekend/evening hours, as scheduled by management based on the needs of the operation and business.

Travel

This job requires no significant travel to locations other than Stoked Pizza premises.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

• Must have a passion for creating memorable hospitality experiences
• Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
• Possess knowledge of food preparation techniques, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
• Be able to effectively work as a team and be able to help out in other positions if needed
• Understanding of Toast POS and OpenTable softwares
• Must possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money
• Must be willing and able to work a varied schedule including evenings, nights, and weekends and holidays.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
• Ability to move around during entire shift
• Must have the ability to communicate clearly and directly with guests
• Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.
