Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Prep Cook to join our culinary team. As a Prep Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen by preparing ingredients, assisting with meal assembly, and supporting the culinary staff in delivering high-quality dishes. Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, peeling, and measuring for daily menu items
- Assist in menu planning and ingredient sourcing to ensure freshness and quality
- Support cooking and food preparation activities, including assembling dishes according to recipes and standards
- Maintain proper food handling procedures to ensure safety and hygiene compliance
- Organize workstations for efficiency and cleanliness before, during, and after shifts
- Assist with catering events and special meal preparations as needed
- Follow all food safety protocols and maintain sanitation standards in the kitchen
- Support serving staff during meal service times to ensure timely delivery of dishes
- Keep inventory of supplies and notify management when stock levels are low
Experience
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is preferred
- Experience in menu planning, food preparation, cooking, or food service within restaurants or catering environments is highly desirable
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation techniques are advantageous
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures is essential
- Culinary experience or background in the food industry will be considered an asset
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools used in professional cooking settings is preferred
