Our growing logistics operation in Madison, Wisconsin is looking for a meticulous Shipping Clerk to manage and coordinate the shipment of goods. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and proficient in managing shipping documentation and processes. You will play a key role in ensuring that orders are accurately packed, labeled, and dispatched on time. This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Strong commitment to safety and quality is essential. You will be responsible for preparing shipments, verifying contents, and coordinating with carriers.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and customs forms.
- Verify accuracy of outgoing shipments against orders.
- Package products securely for shipment, ensuring no damage occurs during transit.
- Label shipments correctly with addresses and tracking information.
- Coordinate with freight carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and update the inventory system.
- Communicate with customers and internal departments regarding shipment status.
- Inspect outgoing shipments for quality and adherence to specifications.
- Assist with receiving and verifying incoming shipments as needed.
- Adhere to all warehouse safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE.
- Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and order management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and verification.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to perform moderate Lifting (up to 30 pounds).
- Knowledge of shipping regulations and carrier requirements.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work efficiently in a warehouse setting.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all Safety guidelines.
