Opportunity for a skilled Material Handler to join our logistics team in Seattle, Washington! In this role, you will be instrumental in managing the flow of materials throughout our facility, ensuring efficiency and safety. You will operate essential equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks to move, store, and retrieve goods. Key responsibilities include loading and unloading trucks, organizing inventory, and supporting picking and packing operations. A strong emphasis is placed on adhering to safety regulations and utilizing all required PPE. We are looking for individuals with a proactive attitude, excellent mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to operational excellence. This is a demanding but rewarding position within a critical sector of the logistics industry.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, reach trucks, and pallet jacks to move, stack, and retrieve materials safely.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing freight from trucks and trailers.
- Organize and store inventory in designated warehouse locations, ensuring proper stock rotation.
- Stage materials for production or shipment accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct daily inspections of material handling equipment and report any issues.
- Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse environment, ensuring clear access to all areas.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, including safe operating procedures and the correct use of PPE.
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counting processes.
- Support the shipping and receiving departments as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow and productivity in the logistics chain.
- Previous experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment is required.
- Valid forklift certification is essential.
- Proven ability to perform tasks involving significant physical exertion, including frequent Lifting of heavy objects (up to 60 lbs).
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety protocols and the importance of PPE in a logistics setting.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
