Hybrid Role
– home working with a minimum of two set office days in Leeds.
The Role Lead QA Engineer responsible for establishing and leading the quality assurance function across both the website and app development teams. This is the first QA role in the business, enabling the opportunity to shape the testing strategy, define best practices, and embed a culture of quality throughout the development lifecycle.
Key Accountabilities
Define, implement, and continuously improve the company's QA processes for both web and app development.
Design and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for new and existing features.
Conduct manual and automated regression testing to identify issues before release and prevent the introduction of new bugs.
Collaborate with development teams to integrate testing into the CI/CD pipeline.
Manage and prioritise testing across multiple projects, ensuring release readiness.
Provide leadership and mentorship on QA best practices to developers and stakeholders.
Create clear documentation for test processes, results, and issue tracking.
Advocate for quality and user experience throughout the software development lifecycle.

Person Specification – Skills & Experience Essential
Proven experience as a QA Engineer / Senior QA Engineer in a software product or SaaS environment.
Strong understanding of QA methodologies, testing types, and best practices.
Experience testing web applications and mobile apps (iOS and Android).
Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as Cypress, Selenium, Playwright, or similar.
Knowledge of API testing tools (e.g., Postman).
Experience with bug tracking systems (Jira) and test management tools.
Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating test automation within them.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Desirable
Experience in a lead QA or QA setup role within a growing organisation.
Familiarity with AWS, Symfony, or React/TypeScript environments.
Knowledge of performance and security testing tools.
Exposure to mobile testing frameworks (Detox).
