We're looking for a Fleet Manager to join our team at Around the Sound
About the Role:
The Fleet Manager leads the planning and coordination of all fleet operations, including vehicle acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, and repair, ensuring optimal performance and compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Update the Fleet Sheet to ensure data accuracy.
- Review and submit the mileage report on a regular basis.
- Supervise mechanics by assigning tasks, managing time and projects, and monitoring performance
- Onboard new vehicles by coordinating insurance, registration, and other necessary documentation
- Conduct weekly audits on randomly selected vehicles to ensure they are equipped with required tools and supplies
- Review vehicle distribution across all locations and adjust assignments and regional allocations as needed
- Monitor the operational status of all fleet vehicles, including those in transit, active service, or in the shop
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the yard and shop, including supplies, tools, and inventory
- Manage relationships with fleet and facility vendors; enter service records and updates as provided by vendors
- Evaluate mechanic performance and oversee the completion of their monthly bonuses using the core values framework
- Monitor fleet compliance through software systems and reports to ensure adherence to broker and regulatory requirements
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external agencies, providing vehicle inspections, technical assistance, and attending relevant meetings
- Perform inventory control by initiating requisitions, purchasing and ordering parts, and recommending equipment upgrades for the shop
- In winter months, clear snow and ice from the lot and sidewalks for employee safety
- In summer months, ensure the parking lot remains clear of debris and overgrown vegetation, including weeds
- Assist the Facilities and Maintenance team with building repairs, compliance with building codes, permits, and recommending or coordinating needed repairs
- Perform paint and bodywork on vehicles when applicable
Minimum Requirements:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures and repair standards.
- Leadership Abilities: Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide coaching.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent planning, time management, and multitasking abilities; detail-oriented and proactive in problem-solving.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with mechanics, vendors, and other departments.
Other Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of fleet operations, vehicle life cycles, and cost control strategies.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to implement process improvements and increase operational efficiency.
- Ability to interpret reports and data to make informed decisions regarding fleet performance and maintenance.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and compliance with all applicable laws and company policies.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
