Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This role is vital in providing exceptional patient care and administrative support within a busy medical facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in outpatient and inpatient settings, with knowledge spanning dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, and other specialties. Duties

  • Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and empathy, ensuring a positive patient experience
  • Perform patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information
  • Measure and record vital signs accurately, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration
  • Assist with clinical tasks such as specimen collection, medication administration, and basic wound care
  • Operate Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently for documentation and scheduling
  • Support physicians with procedures including X-ray imaging, ICD coding, and basic anatomy or physiology assessments
  • Prepare examination rooms and sterilize equipment according to infection control protocols
  • Manage appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, and phone triage
  • Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations
  • Provide patient education on treatment plans and post-procedure care as needed
  • Assist in emergency situations utilizing Basic Life Support (BLS) skills when required

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in outpatient or inpatient settings such as hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or clinic environments is preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, and medication administration
  • Experience working with EHR systems and familiarity with hospital or Level I/II trauma center procedures is advantageous
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required
  • Strong patient service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation accuracy
  • Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments including urgent care or emergency medicine settings
  • Previous experience in dermatology, geriatrics, medical-surgical units, PICU, or OR is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional medical assisting certification is preferred
