Overview

Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments via telehealth, utilizing EMR systems such as Epic and eClinicalWorks to document patient encounters accurately.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications and adjusting therapies based on clinical judgment and patient response.
- Manage medication administration, including injections and IV infusions, ensuring adherence to clinical guidelines and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with primary care providers, specialists, and case management teams to coordinate care for patients with complex needs such as acute pain management, substance use disorders, or behavioral health conditions.
- Provide patient education on mental health conditions, medication side effects, and lifestyle modifications while maintaining HIPAA compliance and ensuring confidentiality.
- Utilize triage skills to prioritize urgent cases and facilitate referrals for additional services such as neuropsychological testing or inpatient care when necessary.
- Stay current with medical documentation standards, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding practices, and utilization review procedures to optimize billing accuracy and compliance.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with current certification in psychopharmacology.
- Proven experience working in telehealth environments with proficiency in EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks.
- Demonstrated expertise in behavioral health management across diverse settings such as outpatient clinics, inpatient units, or assisted living facilities.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology—including psychotropic medications—and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Experience administering injections, IV infusions, suturing, sterile processing techniques, and infection control protocols.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to mental health disorders and physical examinations relevant to psychiatric assessments.
- Critical care experience or hospital medicine background is highly desirable; familiarity with ICU or emergency room procedures is a plus.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining excellent communication skills with multidisciplinary teams.
