Position Summary
The Associate Category Manager, Bread supports category strategies by managing vendor relationships, analyzing data to drive profitable sales, monitoring pricing plans, and ensuring accurate promotional activities. This role is responsible for regular assortment reviews and leading product selection within the category to maximize sales and profitability.
Additional responsibilities include promotional planning, eCommerce merchandising, and vendor management for the assigned category. The ideal candidate has experience in merchandising, product sourcing and selection, eCommerce selling strategies, and the grocery supply chain — and is eager to join a team of passionate food experts at FreshDirect.
What You'll Do
- Support the creation and execution of a comprehensive category strategy that meets customer needs and aligns with business goals.
- Manage pricing and promotional plans for assigned categories.
- Partner with the Pricing and Site Merchandising teams to drive awareness, trial, and repeat purchases through effective promotional strategies.
- Conduct category and assortment reviews to identify gaps, assess performance, and ensure competitive advantage.
- Create deep-dive analyses to understand opportunity gaps, sales performance, and assortment trends.
- Evaluate potential sales impact of new item launches and discontinuations to inform category resets.
- Prepare pre- and post-category review reports to measure performance and recap key changes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations to anticipate and address short- and long-term challenges.
- Ensure accuracy and validation of vendor-submitted deals .
- Assist with site merchandising, cost negotiations, promotional planning, and product development initiatives.
What You'll Bring
- 2–5 years of experience in grocery retail, eCommerce, or a related category management/merchandising role.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office , particularly Excel.
- Demonstrated attention to detail , organization, and follow-through.
- Some project management experience with the ability to manage mid-sized initiatives.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- High level of enthusiasm, initiative, and solution-oriented mindset .
- Nimble learner who adapts quickly and embraces continuous improvement.

Salary Range: $72,625-$85,441
