Position Overview

The Senior Network Engineer (Security) will be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining enterprise network and security infrastructure in a hybrid environment. This role requires deep technical expertise in LAN/WAN architecture, network security, and performance optimization, along with the ability to operate independently and lead complex initiatives. You will support high-availability network environments, provide technical guidance to leadership, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable network operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and build LAN and WAN infrastructures, including firewalls, routers, switches, access points, and related network components.
  • Perform configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of:
  • Firewalls
  • Routers and switches
  • Network Access Control (NAC)
  • Network Management Systems (NMS)
  • IDS/IPS
  • VPN solutions
  • SIEM platforms
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and technical descriptions.
  • Monitor network performance and availability, ensuring 99.9% uptime and uninterrupted operations.
  • Analyze current and projected network traffic to forecast capacity needs and design future-ready solutions.
  • Conduct short- and long-term network planning to meet organizational communication requirements.
  • Research emerging technologies and evaluate vendor solutions; prepare tradeoff studies and recommendations.
  • Generate network monitoring and utilization reports to support performance analysis and decision-making.
  • Interact with internal IT teams, external agencies, and vendors to support new implementations and resolve incidents.
  • Troubleshoot network issues, resolve outages, and mitigate service degradation without impacting performance.
  • Document incidents, changes, and resolutions using ticketing systems, ensuring timely and accurate updates.
  • Perform project management tasks, including team coordination, scheduling, training, and maintenance planning.
  • Provide high-quality customer service and technical support to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with security, confidentiality, legal, regulatory, and organizational policies.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder relationships to drive consensus and successful outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering and operations, supporting large-scale environments.
  • 7+ years of experience configuring and managing routers and switches in complex LAN/WAN infrastructures.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience configuring and managing firewalls.
  • 10+ years of experience monitoring network equipment, performance, and availability in enterprise environments.
  • Strong experience with network analysis and management tools, supporting client/server architectures.
  • Strong understanding of network security technologies, including IDS/IPS, VPNs, NAC, and SIEM solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and audience-appropriate documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and implement effective, timely resolutions.
  • Ability to work independently in hybrid and on-site environments, including travel to multiple locations as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting hybrid remote and on-site network environments.
  • Experience working in public-sector or highly regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with carrier management, including long-distance and local telecommunications providers.
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical teams and coordinating cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong background in capacity planning, performance modeling, and high-availability design.
