Mercy Veterinary Hospital is a privately owned, established 6-7 doctor, 15,000sq ft, state of the art small animal Veterinary hospital and luxury boarding and grooming facility in Leander.

We are seeking an EXPERIENCED and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. Previous Vet Tech experience is a MUST. Applicants without Veterinary Technician experience in a hospital setting will not be considered.

Must be able to work Monday through Friday and every other Saturday.

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to a variety of animals, assisting veterinarians in medical procedures, and ensuring the well-being of our patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and a commitment to delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
  • Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Monitor the health and behavior of animals in our care.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
  • Provide education to pet owners regarding animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilization of instruments and equipment.
  • Handle animal restraint safely and effectively during examinations or treatments.
  • Participate in emergency veterinary critical care as needed.

Skills

  • Proficiency in veterinary critical care practices.
  • Experience with X-Ray procedures and interpretation.
  • Knowledge of animal husbandry principles to ensure proper care.
  • Strong skills in pet care and overall animal handling techniques.
  • Familiarity with dental terminology related to veterinary dentistry.
  • Ability to perform animal restraint safely to minimize stress for the animals.
  • Experience with equine care is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a busy environment.
