We're seeking a Data Scientist II to join our Risk Decision Science team at Uber. The role involves applying data-driven methods to identify, understand, and analyze emerging fraud trends on the platform. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, operations, and fellow data scientists. Key responsibilities include managing fraud metrics such as losses, false positives, and operational efficiency, requiring both business insight and technical skills to communicate effectively with stakeholders.Responsibilities include:Performing statistical analysis to understand risk and fraud behaviors, developing detection features and models.Building and maintaining fraud detection rules responding to evolving threats.Extracting insights from large datasets to develop strategies against fraudulent activities.Gaining a comprehensive understanding of risk data, reporting, and metrics.Conducting experiments to optimize risk mitigation solutions.Participating in project planning and collaborating across teams globally.Communicating findings to management to inform business decisions.Developing expertise areas under guidance.Engaging in training, reviews, and team meetings.Thriving in Uber Risk's fast-paced environment.Basic qualifications:At least 3 years of experience in data roles such as analytics, operations, or data science.Advanced degree in a quantitative field or 5+ years of relevant experience.3+ years SQL experience; familiarity with big data tools a plus.Experience with data analysis and visualization tools like Python, R, Tableau.Strong skills in defining and communicating performance metrics.Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.Proven ability in data storytelling and root cause analysis.Experience applying analytical methods to real-world problems.Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude.Comfort with ambiguity and independent work capability.Preferred qualifications:Experience in risk, fraud, or payments domains.Experience with experimentation, A/B testing, and statistical modeling.Proficiency in Python/R.Advanced degree or 5+ years of experience if holding a Bachelor's degree.Salary ranges and benefits are detailed at Uber Careers Benefits.
