As a Software Engineer II on the Outlook Copilot Service team, you will design and build scalable, reliable, and secure backend services that power AI-driven features in Outlook. You'll take ownership of service design and delivery, ensuring high availability, performance, monitoring, and troubleshooting in one of Microsoft's most visible services.

Responsibilities
  • Architect and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services powering Outlook Copilot scenarios.
  • Drive end-to-end service design by defining technical strategy, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance at global scale.
  • Champion operational excellence by guaranteeing availability, resiliency, efficiency, observability, and performance of critical services.
  • Lead automation and telemetry initiatives to uncover patterns, optimize systems, and enable continuous improvement.
  • Own incident management: resolve complex service issues, minimize customer impact, and establish preventive measures through robust documentation and root-cause analysis.
  • Influence cross-functional teams, partner with PMs, applied scientists, and UX designers to deliver intelligent, user-facing experiences.
  • Mentor and guide engineers, fostering best practices in design, coding standards, and system reliability.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
