Special Needs Nanny

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Nanny to provide attentive care and support to children with diverse needs.

In this role, you will provide care for children with special needs, including autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy. As an approved respite provider, you will support families in the San Jose area and surrounding communities, helping children thrive through play, learning, and enrichment activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, engaging care for children with special needs.
• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities, including arts, games, and outdoor play.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment, including activity clean-up.
• Communicate effectively with families regarding child progress and daily activities.
• Respond calmly and safely to emergencies or unexpected situations.
• Travel to homes within the San Jose, Sunnyvale, and surrounding areas as needed.

Qualifications

• Age 18 or older.
• Experience working with children with special needs preferred.
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
• Availability 3–5 days per week, at least 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm; weekend availability a plus.
• Strong communication skills, dependability, and a positive, child-focused attitude.
• Comfortable using a smartphone for scheduling and recording assignments.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and engage in active play.
• Frequent bending, squatting, reaching, and getting up/down from the floor.
• Quick reaction ability in emergent situations.
