As the company expands its engineering team, the
Systems Engineer
will play a central role in designing, deploying, and maintaining control and SCADA systems across diverse energy projects. This position offers hands-on exposure to cutting-edge technology, cross-functional collaboration, and direct impact on project execution and system performance. The role reports to the Systems Engineering Manager and provides opportunities to grow from Level I (entry) to Level III (senior/technical lead) based on experience and expertise.

What You'll Do

  • Implement, program, and commission SCADA and Controls systems for renewable energy and storage projects.
  • Configure and integrate RTACs, PLCs, HMIs, historians, and related control components.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including diagrams, configurations, procedures, and templates.
  • Support system integration into third-party platforms and cloud-based solutions.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and provide technical support to customers and internal teams.
  • Ensure compliance with technical standards, security protocols, and ISO 9001 quality processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project management, engineering, and field operations.
  • Mentor junior engineers (Level III), and lead design, development, and optimization of SCADA or control systems.
  • Stay current with OT best practices, control systems programming, networking, and communications protocols.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • Experience Level I: 0–2 years of relevant technical experience; Level II: 2–5 years; Level III: 5+ years with renewable energy focus preferred.
  • Strong understanding of SCADA engineering, control systems, and power system fundamentals.
  • Experience with RTACs, PLCs, and SCADA platforms; Inductive Automation Ignition experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with communications protocols such as Modbus, OPC-UA/DA, and DNP-3.
  • Programming experience with C, C++, Java, Python, or Structured Text (IEC61131) preferred.
  • Basic understanding of electrical one-line schematics and controls panel design.
  • Knowledge of PV solar monitoring, battery storage, or renewable energy control applications preferred.

Additional Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 certification within 6 months of hire; Ignition Core/Gold certification for SCADA within 6 months.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Passion for renewable energy, energy storage, and clean energy technology.

Salary Range:

  • Base Salary:
    $100-145k depending on experience level
