Guthrie Broom Orthopedic and Spine Surgery Center is a new state of the art outpatient surgery center seeking an experienced Patient Services Representative to join our great team of professionals.

At Guthrie Broom Orthopedic and Spine Surgery Center, you will not work weekends, holidays or have an on-call rotation

Position Summary:
Patient Service Representative (PSR) serves as the first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors of the Center. This role is responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing patient check-in/check-out, verifying insurance and demographics, collecting payments, and ensuring accuracy in the scheduling and registration process. The position supports the business office and clinical teams by maintaining an organized, efficient, and welcoming environment.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Greeting and register patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and authorizations prior to procedures.
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances at the time of service; provide receipts and maintain accurate records.
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently, ensuring smooth patient flow.
  • Answer phones, direct calls, and respond to inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Schedule procedures and appointments in accordance with provider and facility guidelines.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with the preparation and scanning of medical records, charts, and required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
  • Perform general clerical duties including filing, copying, faxing, and mail distribution.
  • Support business office and clinical staff with administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a healthcare front office, medical receptionist, or customer service role preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification, billing, and medical terminology preferred.
  • Proficiency with practice management systems, EMR, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional and compassionate demeanor when interacting with patients and families.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in data entry and financial transactions.
  • Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional standing, bending, or lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to interact with patients in person and on the phone.

Working Conditions:

  • Business office and clinical setting in an ambulatory surgery center.
  • Frequent interaction with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
  • May be requested to work extended hours or adjust schedules depending on patient volume.
