Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Sous Chef at Claiborne Senior Living in Baton Rouge, LA. The Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing meals, ensuring high-quality food preparation and presentation aligned with health and safety standards. Daily responsibilities include managing kitchen staff, maintaining inventory and supplies, monitoring food storage, and collaborating on menu planning. The role plays a key part in creating a memorable dining experience for residents while adhering to nutritional requirements.

Qualifications

• Culinary skills including food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu planning
• Knowledge of food safety standards and practices, including proper storage and cleanliness
• Team management and leadership experience, including training and supervising kitchen staff
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities to effectively handle multiple tasks
• Creativity in developing appealing and varied menus that meet dietary guidelines
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with a team
• Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a senior living, hospitality, or restaurant environment
• Culinary certification or degree is a plus
