Makers of the Original Mochi Muffin, we are a small bakery sharing foods and drinks inspired by our childhoods as Third Culture Kids. Third Culture Bakery is rapidly growing with many new positions and opportunities quickly forming. Our Berkeley Matcha Cafe is our first location and flagship store and beloved by our customers and the community and our Walnut Creek Matcha Cafe is the first of its kind in design concept for California - walking into an airy space with rainbow prism windows and sunlight for that full Third Culture experience.

We're looking for individuals to carry on the Third Culture story and standard and to make mochi magic with us at both of our locations.

General Responsibilities:

  • Whisk matcha like a pro Prepare and serve specialty matcha and coffee beverages.
  • Carry out the day-to-day of the Matcha Cafe including opening and closing the store.
  • Walk customers through our mochi pastries and foods.
  • Handle food and beverage and be able to move around food equipment safely
  • Curate the best Third Culture environment for guests and team members.
  • Perfectly handle and serve our beautiful handcrafted pastries and foods.

You will be accountable for:

  • Greeting customers with charm, respect, and kindness.
  • Providing guests with product details, such as tastes, textures, recommendations.
  • Proper handling of pastries and food offerings following all health and safety codes.
  • Preparing and serving hot and cold beverages up to the Third Culture standard.
  • Cleaning and maintaining a clean work area, utensils, equipment and service and seating areas.
  • Being self motivated during down time and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment at all times.
  • Taking payments and handling questions with grace
  • Doing end of day pastry counts
  • Communicating effectively to make sure the shop is always at its best

We would like you to have the following:

  • A valid Food Handlers Certificate is required prior to starting and at all times of employment
  • Customer service experience required.
  • Kitchen experience or experience around food is a must.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to convey ideas well.
  • Friendly and can-do attitude, ability to adapt quickly is a must.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects for restocking/inventory purposes (up to 20 pounds).
  • Comfortable with being on your feet the entire shift.
  • A sense of urgency is a must

***Must have open availability, including Saturday and Sunday availability ***

We are looking to fill full time positions working 32-40 hours per week and part-time positions working about 15 hours per week and on call.

Compensation starts at $19.00 per hour with company-pooled tips (adding an additional $3-$5 per hour on average).

Our working hours are from approx.: 8am-5pm. We do not have night shifts available due to our retail store hours.
