Sterile Technician Needed in Leduc, AB Make up to $26/hr
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Sterilization Technician to join our healthcare support team. This vital role ensures the safe and effective sterilization of medical instruments and supplies, maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of sterile processing procedures, anatomy, and physiology, with excellent organizational skills to manage inventory and adhere to strict aseptic techniques. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to patient care in a fast-paced medical environment.

Duties

  • Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and drying machines following established protocols.
  • Prepare, package, and label surgical instruments and supplies for sterilization.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of sterilized items and ensure proper stock levels.
  • Conduct routine quality checks on sterilization processes to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Follow strict aseptic techniques during handling and processing of sterile items to prevent contamination.
  • Assist with the cleaning, disassembly, and inspection of surgical instruments for damage or wear.
  • Document all sterilization activities accurately in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to infection control policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in ongoing training related to sterile processing, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of sterile processing procedures and aseptic techniques.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems for tracking supplies and equipment.
  • Understanding of human anatomy and physiology relevant to surgical instruments and procedures.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology to accurately interpret documentation and instructions.
  • Ability to operate sterilization equipment safely and effectively.
