About the role
This internship supports the finance team across month-end, invoicing, reconciliations, and collections. The focus is on well-structured, repeatable processes, meticulous documentation, and coordination with commercial teams, with exposure to automation and BI-driven workflows.
Responsibilities
- Month-end support
- Prepare standard journal templates, assist with accrual schedules, and perform high-volume balance reconciliations using checklists and evidence logs.
- Help track intercompany confirmations and maintain a simple mapping change log to ensure chart-to-report consistency.
- Invoicing and revenue operations
- Generate recurring SaaS invoices at the beginning and mid-month; prepare services invoicing for the 21st–20th cycle.
- Send reminder notices to internal stakeholders for approvals; ensure project-level invoice separation and application of agreed commercial terms.
- Reconciliations and data hygiene
- Compare contract data to invoiced amounts to identify mismatches; document findings and proposed corrections in a reconciliation tracker.
- Maintain notes for exceptions and support enhancements to reconciliation views (e.g., sorting, basic filters, comments).
- Collections and cash application
- Prepare weekly aging extracts, draft dunning reminders per cadence, and log all contact and outcomes in a shared tracker.
- Coordinate documentation requests for customers with specific billing requirements.
- CPI adjustments (price index)
- Compile CPI-eligible lists from contract data, align monthly recurring revenue updates, and execute batch updates under a documented SOP.
- Support a backlog clean-up project to align systems and records.
- Process documentation and BI
- Keep SOPs up to date, maintain step-by-step checklists with links to evidence, and suggest simple automation or BI improvements to reduce manual work.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivots, basic formulas) and high attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication in Norwegian and English.
- Comfortable working with structured checklists, deadlines, and cross-functional collaboration.
Nice to have
- Exposure to month-end procedures, invoicing, or collections from studies, student roles, or previous internships.
- Interest in automation, process improvement, and basic data modeling/BI.
What you'll learn
- Practical month-end execution, from journals and reconciliations to management pack preparation.
- Order-to-cash operations including invoicing cycles, approvals, special commercial terms, and collections cadence.
- How standardized checklists, SOPs, and BI dashboards improve quality, speed, and audit readiness.
- Collaboration with a distributed team, including an offshore delivery pod for repeatable activities.
Logistics
- Duration: 3–6 months with possibility to extend.
- Time: Part-time during studies or full-time, with extra on-site presence around month-end.
- Hybrid work model with structured onboarding, supervision, and weekly check-ins.
How to apply
Please submit a CV and a short cover letter highlighting:
- Relevant coursework or experience in accounting/finance.
- Examples of a repetitive process improved or a spreadsheet/BI task completed.
- Availability (start date, available time periods, part-time/full-time preference).
