Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Schedule: 14 on / 14 days off | 12-hour shifts
Job Overview
LN is currently seeking a qualified Mine Surveyor to join our team in Fort McMurray, AB . Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for completing accurate field survey work, providing technical expertise, and leading survey crews with a strong focus on safety and quality. This role requires someone who is physically fit, self-motivated, and able to thrive in outdoor and remote working conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Surveying Duties
- Execute accurate survey work using GPS and Total Station equipment (Trimble)
- Supervise and mentor survey crew members
- Maintain precise and complete survey documentation, including field notes
- Provide technical support to survey operations
- Communicate clearly with field teams and Project Managers to ensure project accuracy and timelines
- Maintain and secure field equipment and vehicles
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives
Safety & Compliance
- Participate actively in corporate and client HSE programs
- Lead by example in safe work practices
- Conduct safety audits and complete safety paperwork as required
- Promote a culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility on all job sites
Qualifications & Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in construction or mine surveying
- Geomatics Technician diploma or equivalent (asset)
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean 5-year abstract
- Proficiency with Trimble GPS and Total Station equipment
- CSTS, OSSA/BSO, First Aid, H2S Alive certifications (required)
- Underground/Line Locating Certification and/or Advanced UAV Pilot Certification (asset)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and computer skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to lead a team and take direction
Work Environment & Logistics
- Rotation: 14 on / 14 days off
- Accommodations: Crew house or LOA available
- Outdoor work in various weather conditions
- Physically demanding role with extended periods on foot or operating equipment
- Remote site travel may be required
