We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator for our busy warehouse in Detroit, Michigan. This role is crucial for the efficient movement of materials throughout our facility, supporting our extensive logistics operations. You will be responsible for operating forklifts safely and effectively to move, stack, and retrieve inventory. A strong commitment to safety is essential, requiring strict adherence to all company policies, safe operating procedures, and the use of mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The ideal candidate will have proven experience, a valid forklift certification, and the ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment. Your expertise is vital to our operational success.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate forklifts to move, stack, load, and unload materials within the warehouse.
- Transport inventory from receiving to storage areas, and from storage to shipping docks.
- Conduct daily inspections of forklifts to ensure they are in safe and proper working condition.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately to management.
- Maintain accurate records of material movements and inventory.
- Assist with receiving, stocking, and order picking tasks as needed.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies, including the proper use of PPE.
- Optimize warehouse layout and material placement for efficient flow.
- Participate in inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Forklift Operator certification (e.g., OSHA-compliant).
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or logistics setting.
- Excellent knowledge of forklift safety procedures and best practices.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including occasional Lifting of items up to 50 lbs.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations and inventory management.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to strictly follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
