Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated
Accountant
to support our finance operations with full-cycle accounting, construction cost tracking, financial reporting, and compliance. You'll help ensure financial accuracy across projects and corporate operations while working closely with project managers, operations, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Core Accounting

  • Perform full-cycle accounting tasks including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger maintenance.
  • Prepare and record journal entries, reconcile accounts, and support month-end close processes.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation to support internal reporting and external audits.

Project & Cost Accounting

  • Track and allocate costs to individual construction projects.
  • Generate project-specific financial reports and assist with project budgeting and variance analysis.
  • Monitor labour, materials, subcontractor costs, and overhead to ensure projects remain on budget.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare timely financial reports for senior leadership and support audit processes.
  • Assist with tax filings (HST, payroll, etc.) and ensure compliance with accounting standards/regulations.
  • Support cash flow forecasting and help identify financial risks or opportunities.

Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Work with project managers and operations to clarify financial assumptions, cost allocations, and budget revisions.
  • Contribute to improvements in financial processes, reporting accuracy, and accounting controls.

What We're Looking For

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation (or working toward CPA) is an asset.

Experience

  • 2–5 years of accounting experience, ideally in construction or project-based industries.

Skills & Tools

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, etc.).
  • Excellent Excel skills (analysis, pivot tables, reporting).
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
