Cashier

Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, handle transactions accurately, and contribute to a positive shopping experience. This role requires strong communication skills, proficiency with POS systems, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. The Cashier will play a vital role in maintaining organized checkout processes and supporting overall store operations.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers, process fuel and in‑store purchases, and answer basic questions about products and services.
• Operate the POS system, handle cash, debit, credit, and lotto or gift card transactions accurately and securely.
• Maintain a clean checkout area, coffee and snack stations, and tidy store aisles and washrooms as required.
• Stock shelves, rotate products, check expiry dates, and assist with deliveries.
• Follow all safety, security, and loss‑prevention procedures, including age verification for restricted products (e.g., tobacco, lottery, vapes where applicable).
• Collaborate with the shift supervisor/manager to complete opening, shift‑change, and closing duties.

Requirements

• Previous cashier, convenience store, or customer service experience is an asset but not always required; training can be provided.
• Comfortable handling cash and working with a computerized POS system.
• Strong communication skills and a positive, customer‑focused attitude.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move light to medium boxes (e.g., cases of drinks, snacks).
• Availability to work a mix of evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.60 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
