Join our essential logistics team in Houston, Texas, as a Receiving Clerk! This crucial role ensures the accurate and efficient intake of all goods entering our warehouse. You will be responsible for inspecting shipments, verifying quantities against orders, documenting receipts, and organizing incoming inventory. We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable individual with a strong commitment to safety and accuracy. Your diligence in this role is fundamental to maintaining optimal inventory levels and supporting smooth warehouse operations.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and inspect all incoming shipments from various carriers.
- Verify the accuracy of delivered items against purchase orders and packing slips, noting any discrepancies or damages.
- Accurately record all received goods into the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Tag and label incoming inventory as required and transport it to designated storage areas.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.
- Operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks) as needed, following proper safety procedures and wearing appropriate PPE.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, warehouse staff, and logistics coordinators regarding shipment status.
- Participate in cycle counts and assist with inventory reconciliation as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Receiving Clerk or in a similar warehouse/logistics role is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in using WMS and basic computer skills.
- Ability to read and interpret purchase orders and shipping documents.
- Physical capability to perform tasks involving Lifting and moving goods, often up to 50 lbs.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Understanding of warehouse safety protocols and the importance of PPE.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
