We are seeking a motivated and reliable Material Handler to join our dynamic logistics team in Des Moines, Iowa. As a Material Handler, you will play a crucial role in the efficient movement of goods within our warehouse. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and efficiency. You will be responsible for receiving, processing, and distributing materials as well as maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Your daily tasks will involve operating equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, loading and unloading trucks, and accurately documenting inventory. This role is fundamental to our overall warehouse operations and supply chain success. We are looking for individuals who are detail-oriented and can work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Understanding the importance of timely material handling for downstream processes is key. You will also be responsible for performing regular safety checks on equipment and adhering to all company policies and procedures. Responsibilities:
- Safely operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Load and unload shipments from trucks.
- Receive, identify, and stock incoming inventory.
- Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment.
- Conduct daily inspections of equipment, ensuring proper functioning and reporting any issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all warehouse safety protocols.
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts as needed.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, particularly those related to safety and material handling.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding workload and any issues encountered.
- Adhere to all requirements for wearing appropriate PPE, including safety vests, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role is preferred.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Experience operating forklifts or other powered industrial trucks is a plus.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain principles.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to PPE guidelines is mandatory.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
