We are looking for a customer focused, passionate, and experienced Quality Engineer primarily responsible to work in a cross-functional environment to share customer requirements and align with Thermtrol's quality standards. The ideal candidate must be a systems thinker with excellent analytical abilities, technical skills, hands-on approach, effective written and verbal communication, and most importantly, a passion for making data-based decisions for process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide direct support to customized manufacturing plans while working in close contact with our Vietnam manufacturing facility
· Help strengthen existing systems to promote a zero-defect philosophy between suppliers, Thermtrol internal departments and support groups
· Collaborate with program management, engineering, materials and inside sales and purchasing cross-functional team members to meet business objectives and project timelines
· Drive PPAP documentation review and PPAP on-time approval with customers
· Support customer complaint handling, root-cause investigation, and corrective action implementation.
· Be actively involved in product audits and monitoring ISO9001 and IATF1649 compliance at all levels of the organization.
· Working with the cross-functional team members overseas for product and process improvement initiatives with engineering personnel in our Vietnam manufacturing facility. Our Vietnam associates speak and write in English
- Support the quoting team for strategic customers
SPECIALIST FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE
· AIAG Tools - APQP / PFMEA / Control Plan / PPAP
· Applied statistics and quality engineering techniques including Measurement Systems Analysis (Gage R&R), descriptive statistics, Design of Experiments (DOE), Process Capability (Cpk/Ppk), Statistical Process Control (SPC)Statistical Analysis
· Design of Experiments (DOE)
· Continuous Improvement Methodologies – 5Whys, 8D, PDCA, Gemba Walks, 5s
· Quality Management Experience – ISO 9001, IATF 16949
· Manufacturing Process Knowhow - Wire Processing (Cutting, Crimping and Assembly), Molding, Welding, Continuity Testing
Required Skills & Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree with 5+ years' experience
- ISO9001 and / or IATF 16949 Quality Management Systems experience
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (word/Excel/PowerPoint/Teams)
- Ability to interface well with others working at all levels
- Ability to read and understand CAD drawings
- Ability to understand various manufacturing processes
- Flexible to work off hours with the manufacturing site in Vietnam when needed
- Automotive Industry Experience preferred
- ASQ certification is preferred, but not required
- CQE is desirable but not required
- Potential for up to 25% travel to our manufacturing site and/or to suppliers
- Excellent communication skills
