About
Chillicothe Steel Company is seeking a full-time Burn Table Operator for our first-shift operations. This is a hands-on role in a production environment, requiring strong technical skills, attention to detail, and physical capability.
The Burn Table Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC burn equipment to cut steel plate accurately and efficiently according to customer blueprints and electronic files.
Responsibilities
- Program CNC burn tables using CAD/CAM software from PDF, DXF, and NC1 files
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine cutting paths, tolerances, and material requirements
- Set up and operate CNC plasma and oxy-fuel burn equipment safely and efficiently
- Verify part dimensions and quality; adjust programs and machine settings as needed
- Perform basic maintenance, cleaning, and daily equipment checks
- Operate a forklift to move plate and finished parts
- Use basic computer skills for file management, nesting, and production reporting
Qualifications
Required
- CAD programming experience for CNC cutting or machining equipment
- Ability to read and work from blueprints, PDFs, DXF, and NC1 files
- Prior CNC experience (burn table, plasma, laser, or machining center)
- General machining or metal fabrication knowledge (tolerances, layout, measurement tools)
- Solid computer navigation skills for file handling, programs, and basic data entry
- Forklift operation experience in an industrial or warehouse environment
Preferred
- Experience with structural steel or plate processing in a service center or fabrication shop
Only candidates with relevant CNC and file-reading experience will be considered.

- Hourly pay, based on experience and skill level
- Overtime pay (time-and-a-half) for hours worked over 40 per week
