About
Nebraska Urology is looking for a professional Surgery Scheduler with medical clinic scheduling or outpatient surgery scheduling experience to schedule surgery appointments for patients in an efficient and timely manner. Coordinates physician surgery schedules. Maintains complete records.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Schedules surgery (date and time) for patients at hospital or Urology Surgical Center.
- Work closely with physicians.
- Schedules Pre-Op exam appointment with patients PCP.
- Assembles packet with all necessary surgery information for patient.
- Go over information with patient, (in person if in office or by phone).
- Document all necessary information in patient's chart.
- Obtain from physician – Hospital/ASC orders and H&P if required.
- Create Charge ticket for hospital surgery cases and documents in patients chart. Give charge ticket to physician if outpatient surgery or give to Billing if patient is to remain in hospital.
- Schedule meetings/talk for physicians with Drug Representatives and Hospital Personnel.
- Responsible for faxing all reservations to the hospital.
- Responsible for faxing all pre-op order to the hospital.
- Work closely with ASC staff regarding scheduling in ASC.
- Work closely with other physician office in the coordination of combined surgical procedures.
- Update staff on any new information regarding surgeries.
- Calls reps with request for special equipment or product required for an upcoming surgery.
- Answer calls from hospitals regarding patient information, surgery and related questions.
- Answers questions regarding patient's surgical appointment and testing.
- Schedules post-op appointments.
- Carries our electronic medical record functions such as scanning orderings, routing faxes to patient's charts.
- Maintains knowledge of insurance policies in relation to scheduling at certain locations. Knowledge of certain procedures requiring pre-collects and pre-authorizations. Work closely with billing department.
- Review medications with patient to verify accuracy.
- Maintains information in a confidential manner.
EDUCATION, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One to two years work experience in a medical scheduling setting preferred.
