JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Project Engineer position will support the project team by leading design 

aspects of the project, maintaining project budget & schedule, and providing technical 

expertise to all phases of the project. This person will train and mentor project teams on 

all projects including those more complex and of larger scale.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Direct project team on various assignments as directed by the Project Manager, 

providing technical training and guidance.

Recommend and implement design changes such as grading, size of utilities and 

other changes per client's request.

Work with project team members and clients to prepare the project proposal.

Draft, review, and finalize preliminary and final site plans, documents, and 

computations, including, but not limited to: preparing reports, opinions and 

recommendations for the approval of the Project Manager concerning the 

direction of the project, due diligence/site analysis reports, engineer's opinion of 

probable costs and project schedules. Complete edits and modify plans as 

reviewed by agencies, municipalities, and clients as directed.

Research local/state requirements as directed on properties and projects for 

zoning. Complete site visits and field assignments as required.

Review project survey data to analyze existing site conditions and factors to 

consider for development including, but not limited to: legal descriptions, ALTA 

surveys, and easement documents.

Direct junior team members to complete items such as: permit applications, cut 

sheets, quantity estimates and transmittals, and organize site plans, 

Support Atwell training and development programs by providing specialized 

training and/or mentoring in area of expertise, prepare and/or review technical 

training materials, and serve as technical discipline/subject matter expert.

Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software packages to complete 

assignments on time and within prescribed standards as outlined in the Atwell 

Product Quality Manual.

Initiate communication with clients, municipalities, and agencies as the project 

requires in accordance with the Project Manager.

Communicate with Project Manager and Team Leader on workload status.

Must apply fundamental engineering concepts to practical situations.

Workload management skills.

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Additional certifications or licenses held are a plus

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Provide support and participate in litigation matters by providing expert witness 

testimony as directed.

Respond to review letters and modify plans from agencies, municipalities, and 

clients as directed.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering 

PE License is required.

EXPERIENCE

Eight (8) plus years of experience.

Experience leading to knowledge of the local construction market and contacts.

Advanced knowledge of designing land development projects.

Experience managing and mentoring other employees
