Job Summary
As a Facility Maintenance Technician, you are the "boots on the ground" responsible for the physical appearance and functionality of our storage facilities. While the Supervisor oversees the region, you will execute the daily general labor, groundskeeping, and caretaker and maintenance tasks required to keep the property clean, secure, and welcoming for customers.
Key Responsibilities
Groundskeeping & Curb Appeal
- Mowing & Landscaping: Primary responsibility for maintaining facility grounds. This includes operating riding/push mowers, string trimmers, and edgers on a strict schedule.
- Weed Control: Manage weed control along fence lines, building foundations, and driveways.
- Debris Removal: Ensure the grounds are kept free of trash, blown debris, or items left behind by customers.
- Weather Maintenance: Perform seasonal tasks such as clearing drains, leaf removal, and salting/shoveling as needed.
General Labor & Facility Care
- Unit Turns: Clean and prep vacated storage units for the next customer as needed. This includes sweeping out debris, removing abandoned goods, and ensuring roll-up doors function smoothly.
- Routine Maintenance: Perform minor repairs under the direction of the Supervisor, such as replacing light bulbs, greasing door springs/chains, repairing latches, and touching up paint.
- Equipment Care: Clean and maintain all mowing and maintenance equipment after use to ensure longevity.
- Security Checks: Perform daily audits of the facility to ensure accuracy between the physical location and software; check for cut locks, unsecured units, or damage to the perimeter fencing.
- Reporting: Act as the eyes and ears of the property; immediately report major repair needs, safety hazards, or security issues to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor.
Job Requirements
- Experience: A minimum of 1 year of general labor, landscaping, or facility maintenance experience preferred.
- Licensing: Valid driver's license, maintenance of a good driving record at all times, and insurability under the Company's policy at all times.
- Physical Ability:
- Ability to lift or to move up to 50 pounds (lifting doors, moving trash/debris).
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist, walk continuously, and access facility units.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
- Mechanical Skills:
- Ability to safely operate landscaping equipment (mowers, weed eaters, blowers).
- Comfortable using basic hand tools (hammer, screwdriver, drills).
- Autonomy: Ability to efficiently perform job responsibilities with minimal supervision. You must be self-motivated to keep the property looking good without being micromanaged.
- Safety: Ability to read safety precautions around equipment or materials (e.g., fuel, weed killer) and properly ensure directions are followed as prescribed by the manufacturer.
Schedule & Compensation
- Job Type: Full time
- Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00am to 4:00pm
- Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour
- Travel: May be required to travel between local facilities (company vehicle or mileage reimbursement provided).
Pay: $ $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
