**Location: East Hawaii
Temporary/PTE: Part-time hours/week)
Pay: $21 per hour

The Family Programs Specialist is responsible for providing support services through Family Hui Hawai'i (FHH) programming across East Hawai`i. Family Programs Specialist will work as part of the wider Family Hui Hawai'i team to deliver programs, support Parent Leaders, create community partnerships, represent FHH at local events, and support the mission and vision of FHH.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Programming

  • Deliver programming including Hui sessions, workshops, or Play Days across East Hawai'i (with occasional travel to other islands) and recruit families.
  • Support ongoing FHH projects including those related to language, literacy, and in partnership with other organizations.

Community Connections

  • Support and maintain positive working relationships with community partners.
  • Utilize partnerships to offer FHH programming to families.
  • Participate in outreach and marketing efforts in the community.
  • Provide appropriate referrals to health and family agencies.

Volunteer Coordination

  • Provide training, guidance, and support to FHH Parent Peer Leaders.
  • Administration
  • Maintain regular communication including through phone, Zoom, and email.
  • Provide documentation to support accurate and punctual reporting.
  • Ensure that surveys, assessments, and evaluations are collected and processed.
  • Maintain confidentiality.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree or two years experience related to family resources, human services, early childhood education, public policy, health, or related.
  • Personal and professional interest in parenting and family support services.

Essential Requirements

  • Must have a reliable personal vehicle and valid drivers license.
  • Applicants must be available and able to travel for in-person meetings and programming (75% of time during normal business hours, M-F 8 am - 5 pm)
  • Applicants must be available outside of regular working hours (evenings and weekends) to represent FHH at local resource fairs or events on a shared rotating basis.
  • Must be able to utilize virtual meeting tools, word processing, and spreadsheets with ease.

Abilities, Skills, and Knowledge

  • Ability to work with diverse families within their cultural context.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and find community resources.
  • Knowledge of principles related to child development, family dynamics, and strategies for effectively engaging with and supporting families.

Benefits:

  • Flexible work schedule: Employees should expect that most in-person programming occurs during the hours of 9 am to 2 pm M-F. Employees must be available to work and travel to in-person meetings and programming with a minimum of 75% of their time available during normal business hours (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.). Employees may flex their schedules outside of these hours for up to 25% of their time
  • Hybrid work environment (75% in-person / 25% virtual): While some meetings and programming may be conducted from home, the majority is expected to be in-person, from or at the office.
  • Regular Full-time employees receive a generous package of paid time off (accumulation of 10 days per year), holidays (13 days), and Family Strengthening week (6 days in late December) after a 3 month probationary period as well as medical and dental benefits.
