About
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Material Handler to join our busy warehouse operations in Des Moines, Iowa. This role is integral to our logistics network, focusing on the efficient and safe movement, storage, and preparation of materials. You will be responsible for receiving incoming goods, stocking shelves, fulfilling orders, and preparing items for shipment. This position requires physical stamina, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment. Your contributions will directly support our ability to deliver products on time and maintain high levels of operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and damage.
- Sort, tag, and stock materials in designated warehouse locations.
- Use pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other equipment to move materials safely.
- Pick and prepare orders for shipment, ensuring accuracy in item selection and quantity.
- Pack items securely for transit, applying appropriate labeling and documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company policies.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Participate in regular inventory counts and assist with stocktaking processes.
- Follow all established lifting procedures and safe material handling guidelines to prevent injuries and ensure product integrity.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding material flow and any operational issues within the logistics facility.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a material handler, warehouse worker, or in a similar logistics role is preferred.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment safely.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical capability to perform tasks including frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Understanding of warehouse safety procedures and the importance of PPE.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
