At South Atlanta Veterinary Emergency & Specialty (SAVES), we provide 24/7 emergency, urgent, and specialty care for dogs and cats in Fayetteville and surrounding communities. Since opening our state-of-the-art facility in 2016, we've grown into a trusted referral center, partnering with family veterinarians to deliver advanced diagnostics, surgery, and compassionate ICU care. As a Veterinary Tech/Assistant, you'll play a critical role in supporting our doctors and ensuring pets receive exceptional care from check-in to discharge. You'll provide skilled nursing support, patient monitoring, and technical expertise while delivering compassionate service to both pets and their families.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians with patient exams, diagnostics, procedures, and surgeries.
  • Perform laboratory tests, radiographs, and other diagnostics as directed.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and fluid therapy according to protocols.
  • Monitor anesthesia and surgical recovery, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Collect and record patient medical histories, vitals, and progress notes in electronic records.
  • Educate and support clients on treatment plans, preventive care, and at-home instructions.
  • Use proper animal restraint techniques and maintain safe handling practices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile treatment, exam, and surgery environment.
  • Support emergency and critical care patients with triage, monitoring, and interventions.
  • Collaborate with doctors, technicians, and CSRs to ensure efficient patient flow and continuity of care.

Experience & Skills Requirements: (AB1)

  • Graduate of an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program preferred.
  • 1–2 years of clinical experience; ER/specialty experience a plus.
  • Strong technical skills in anesthesia, patient monitoring, and nursing care.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to provide compassionate client education.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Physical ability to lift 40 pounds unassisted and remain on feet for extended periods.
