One year certificate from an accredited college or technical school
Three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Five years experience in electronics field
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
Performs repair, maintenance and installation of building electronic systems. Implements the preventive maintenance program for the various electronic systems installed throughout the District. Provides for the safe condition and operation of all assigned systems in the District's facilities.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain, trouble shoot and repair programs with laptop for Dukane, Simplex, Telecor, Raul and Bogan intercom systems.
Install, maintain, and trouble shoot public address systems in auditorium, cafeteria and athletic complexes.
Maintain sound systems in gymnasiums; to include wireless microphones.
Maintain, trouble shoot and repair stage lighting control systems.
Set and synchronize master and secondary clocks.
Install Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) receiving antennas for clock synchronization inputs and install FM transmitters for RF clock receivers.
Integrate new GPS master clock systems with existing intercom system to provide total synchronization of time bases on all systems.
Program various bell schedules and changes for all District campuses.
Design, install, maintain, trouble shoot and repair lighting system for the hearing impaired to work with the intercom, master clock or Primex System.
Maintain television cable system feed throughout school campuses and overhead projectors.
Maintain and repair projector system wiring and laptop interface for cable television.
Maintain and repair audio equipment associated with projectors.
Maintain and trouble shoot electronically programmed and wireless system score boards and controls for proper operation.
Maintain, trouble shoot and repair electronic marquee systems.
Maintain confidentiality of information.
Report to work on time every day.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination to include vision, hearing, alcohol and drug testing
- Expert knowledge of electronic theory, wiring and operating principles
- In-depth knowledge of DOS and Windows based computer software for configuration of intercom systems, sound systems and master clock systems
- Professional understanding of RF transmitter operation, digital control interfacing, audio system theory and video distribution system designs
- Knowledge of Simplex, Telecor, Rauland, Dukane, Lathem and Primex and DOS based software programs
- Knowledge of local electrical codes, ability to read blueprints, schematics and written reference materials
- Highly competent in the use of personal computers and use of inter and intra-network data systems
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, perform algebraic mathematical calculations, diagnose and resolve problems and use hand and power tools
- Ability to provide onsite information to administrators, staff and/or operators of electronic systems
- Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirement of the District
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds with assistance and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Additionally, the individual must pass a pre-employment physical examination to include vision, hearing, alcohol and drug testing. The employee may be required to submit to drug and alcohol screening at any time throughout employment with prior notification. Personal protective equipment is required to be worn when performing tasks that might subject employee to injury.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation. Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and vibration. The employee works in tiring and uncomfortable positions and works around electrical energy, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. May be required to work hours outside of normal duty hours and/or weekends or holidays in order to handle emergencies that may arise. Required to carry District provided pager, two-way radios and to respond to emergency service calls on a 24 hour rotational basis, as needed to meeting the needs of the district.
