Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Providers to assist individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, and those requiring specialized care. This role involves providing personalized support to enhance independence, safety, and well-being in the participant's home and in the community. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering high-quality care with a focus on dignity and respect for each individual's unique needs. Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home care, or working with individuals with disabilities is highly valued. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance
- Provide meal preparation and nutritional support tailored to individual dietary needs
- Utilize proper techniques with any medical devices such as feeding tubes or insulin pumps.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light cleaning duties and infection control practices
- Assist with transportation needs including driving clients to appointments or community activities
- Manage behavioral challenges using MANDT strategies and behavior management techniques
- Collaborate with the agency Director and ISP team and family members to develop and implement personalized care plans
- Respond effectively in emergency situations by applying first aid skills and following established protocols
Experience
Candidates should have relevant experience or familiarity with the following areas:
1) Rights and responsibilities of persons with developmental disabilities;
2) Working with people with developmental disabilities or disabled
3) Conflict resolution skills, behavior management strategies;
4) Prior roles involving childcare or senior care are also beneficial.
Candidates must demonstrate compassion, patience, excellent communication skills, the ability to handle physically demanding tasks safely—including heavy lifting—and a commitment to providing respectful support tailored to each individual's needs. Candidates must be familiar with and proficient in using computers or cell phone apps for documentation, clocking in- and out.
Candidates must have current MANDT certificates (not expiring in the next nine months), medication aide certification, and CPR/First Aid prior to working with clients. Candidates must take agency training and pass competency tests. A full and comprehensive background check is required prior to hiring.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $ $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 – 20 per week
