Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to inform care plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and catheterizations, while adhering to sterile techniques and safety protocols.
- Manage complex medical documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to ensure precise recordkeeping and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with diagnostic procedures like laboratory specimen collection, processing, sonography, and medical imaging support.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or memory impairments in memory care or assisted living settings.
- Support acute pain management strategies and participate in emergency response activities such as airway management and ventilator support in ICU or trauma center environments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and post-acute care to optimize patient recovery and satisfaction.
Experience
- Prior experience working in diverse healthcare environments including hospital medicine, emergency rooms, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), PICU (Pediatric ICU), or surgical units is highly valued.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for documentation and patient data management.
- Strong background in critical care settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers or Level I trauma experience is preferred.
- Experience with specialized procedures including IV insertion, phlebotomy, suturing, spinal taps, gastric lavage, or dialysis is advantageous.
- Knowledge of ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases) versions ICD-9 and ICD-10 for accurate medical documentation.
- Familiarity with infectious disease protocols, infection control practices, and hospice or palliative care principles enhances your ability to deliver comprehensive patient support.
- Excellent skills in patient assessment across age groups—from neonatal ventilator management to toddler and pediatric care—are essential for providing tailored nursing interventions.
